Deadline approaching - book now for Clubs' conference

The build-up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games present unparallelled opportunities for sport. Bookings close on Wednesday for our National Clubs' and Networks conferences! These are designed to help your club act now to ensure it is in a position to make the most of the unprecedented opportunities in the build up to 2012 and ensure the momentum can be sustained after the Games have been and gone.

Make sure someone from your club is attending!  To book please go to:

Our second annual national club and network conferences have now been booked into the calendar. There will be only one more round of conferences prior to the 2012 Games, so now is the time to act!

After last year’s successful launch we have this year confirmed dates for three conferences which will all include the same content so volunteers from any club can attend whichever conference is most convenient for them in terms of venue and/or date.

These are events specifically aimed at club volunteers, trying to give them a friendly environment where they can share best practice and look at tools and resources required to
develop their club and network. The conferences are themed around ‘Long-term Vision for Clubs - Making the Sport Sustainable’.

The dates and venues for these conferences are as follows:
  • 30 October – Hilton, Solihull (before the England Athletics National Volunteer and Hall of Fame Awards night);
  • 6 November - Holiday Inn, Guildford;
  • 13 November – Holiday Inn, Leeds.

Make sure that you and the other volunteers who are central to the running of your club have these dates in your diaries.

You will notice that the first date coincides with the England Athletics National Volunteer and Hall of Fame Awards night. If you are planning on attending the conference in Solihull on 30 October and would also like to attend our Awards Night which includes both the National Volunteer Awards and our Hall of Fame inductions (this year including the induction of the
Athlete Of The Decade) then special rates are available for tables being purchased. This may be something you may want to consider as a club or network – particularly if you have
been nominated for an award! In addition accommodation is also heavily discounted.

The conference has limited spaces available but priority will be given to those also attending Hall of Fame. Equally we will endeavour to prioritise those attending the Volunteer training during the day when allocating the availability of Awards Night tickets.
A special deal of 10 places for the price of nine is available, quote reference Club Conference in an email to
