Coach in Running Fitness - Assessment Day

This Assessment Day is part of the Coach in Running Fitness (CiRF) qualification.

Courses post Sept 2014 - Please note the Assessment Day is part of the Coach in Running Fitness qualification and you are automatically booked on the one linked to your course; you are expected to attend, as this is the final contact day of the course.

Courses pre Sept 2014 - Candidates who have attended a course are not automatically booked on to their assessment, but must have attended Day 1, 2 & 3, submitted and received a Diary pass before attending an assessment day. Once your diary has been passed, please contact your Area Education Coordinator to book on an assessment day.

This endurance running qualification primarily for those working with runners up to and including the event group development stage. All applicants must be active leaders or coaches who have completed as a minimum a Level 1, Fitness in Running & Walking, LiRF or Coaching Assistant qualification. CiRF is about the broad application to non track based endurance running events rather than specific events or distances and is not designed for coaches who want to work with runners taking part in track based events such as 800m–10k track races or steeplechase. When qualified you will be insured to coach without supervision

This qualification is the cornerstone of the coach education pathway. In total the course consists of 4 contact days, which concludes with a practical assessment.

Day 1 & 2 of the course will cover the generic content of running, jumping and throwing and physical preparation. Once candidates have booked a their Athletics Coach Day 1 & 2 and received their booking confirmation, they should then select their Day 3 & 4 Event Technical option in either Endurance, Speed, Jump and Throws. The course also includes an online Knowledge Test and a Safeguarding module.

Candidates will be able to plan a progressive training programme for athletes coaching a range of activities to prepare the developing athlete to run, jump and throw. When qualified you will be insured to coach without supervision.

Minimum Age: 18

Prerequisite: Level 1 Assistant Coach or Coaching Assistant

Officials - Level 1 (Endurance) & Risk Awareness

A one day course that will allow the candidate to work under the supervision of a qualified endurance official with a view to becoming a qualified technical official. This day also includes the Risk Awareness Course which must be completed before a Level 3 licence is awarded.
