Youth Talent Programme national camps in April

This weekend (1-2 April), England Athletics will be holding its Youth Talent Programme National Camps around the country for athletes, parents, and coaches to receive expert advice in technical, physical and lifestyle areas.

The National Camps are an integral part of the England Athletics Youth Talent Programme for supporting young athletes aged from 16-18 years, along with their educational needs.

It’s an in-person opportunity for hundreds of selected Youth Talent Programme athletes to receive continuing support along their journeys on the England Athletics Talent Pathway whilst still learning and developing, not just as athletes, but young adults with aspirations to reach their full potential both inside and outside of their sport.

Alan Richardson, Talent Pathway Manager at England Athletics, said:

"The Youth Talent Programme is the start point of the England Athletics Talent Pathway. Each year the programme grows in strength and is a great opportunity for the development of skills in the technical, physical and lifestyle areas that will support their journey throughout the pathway. We know that the athletes at this stage of development require support as do their coaches and parents and the Youth Talent Programme aims to support all three components of the support network."

At the events in Loughborough, London, Birmingham, and Leeds, athletes will take part in event specific training sessions as well as physical competency assessment. Parents and coaches will also attend sessions around how to support the athletes through the Youth Talent Programme and in their overall development as well as exploring what they can do to help make a difference when preparing the athletes for a major championships including the highs and lows throughout the season.

The venues which are hosting the Youth Talent Programme National Camps this weekend are: Loughborough University, Birmingham University, Alexander Stadium, Brunel University and Leeds Beckett University.
