Open throws forums

Take the opportunity to get your voice heard - Nick is running quarterly throws surgeries throughout 2024, running from 7.30 to 8.30pm. Click on a date below to register.

Community of Practice

Communities of Practice (COPs) bring together coaches from across England to work collaboratively to develop the throws. The focus is on sharing good practice around athlete and coach profiling and development, technical, tactical, physical, and psychological excellence frameworks with the aims of:

• increasing the athlete performances and standard of coaching in the event.
• improving the interconnection of the (Shot Put/Discus/Hammer/Javelin) coaching community within England
• increasing the number of athletes on representative teams
• increasing the strength in depth of (Shot Put/Discus/Hammer/Javelin) athletes
• improving the strength in depth of (Shot Put/Discus/Hammer/Javelin) coaches

Talent Event Leads act as chair / facilitator for both the formal and informal parts of the COP. This includes 1-2 hours once or twice a month online, and 1-2 hours once or twice a year at a championships of National Day. In addition there are informal ongoing communication via MS Teams, email and phone calls as appropriate. Those who can contribute and benefit are:

• Talent Programme personal coaches (YTP, JTP. SP)
• Club coaches
• Event Group Lead, when appropriate
