Location: County Durham
Years in athletics: 6
Athletics involvement: Athlete, Coach, Official
I am currently a sixth form student, studying for my A-Levels. I’m a 400m runner and discus thrower, but have been known to do the steeplechase. I started competing when I was 12, but after 2 years I stopped competing until 2015 when I changed clubs and now a member of Houghton Harriers.
Over the last two years I have begun coaching and officiating. I am an athletics leader working with an under 11s group at Houghton as well as a mixed group at another club, which I use as part of my voluntary towards my Duke of Edinburgh award.
I also completed my officials’ course in 2015 and I am now a level 2 track judge, working towards my level 3. Most weekends throughout the summer I can be found at events within the North East as well as further afield either on a judge's stand or coaching from the side-lines.
I joined the Youth Advisory Group because I have experiences in athletics, both positive and negative, which I want to use to improve athletics within my immediate area as well as on a larger scale. In addition I feel that I have a well-rounded experience due to the wide range of roles within athletics I have. I am most looking forward to working with people of a similar age from different parts of the country to achieve a common goal; to improve athletics for everyone.
