Athletics involvement: Athlete, Coaching Assistant, Level 3 Official

I started out in athletics when I was 8. I started with indoor competitions with my team called baby Bolts. I then joined Thanet AC in 2010. I compete in the Hammer, Shot and Discus.  In 2014 I became an official and have worked my way up the level and will be officiating at the World Championships and Para World Championships. I have also recently achieved my coaching assistants license and have been helping coach the throw group.

I am currently in my last year at 6th form. I am studying Sports, Classical History and Health and Social Care at A-level. I hope to go onto University in September to study Sports Therapy, with the ambition of become a fully qualified sports therapist at a sports club or organisation.

I am a very sporty person and have been involved with many sports in various different roles. I do Karate and am a 2nd Dan Black Belt. I have taken part in Football and Netball in School and have competed against other schools. I have volunteered at Volleyball Masters which takes place at Margate Beach every year. I retrieve the ball during the game and also go round aiding spectators.

I decided to join the YAG because I think there are things that we can do to help promote different roles within athletics, especially officials and coaches.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and working with them to make athletics better not just for us but for the future.
