National 12 and 6 stage Road Relays 2015: preview

The English Road Relay Association (ERRA) 12 and 6 stage Spring Road Relay Championships will take place at Sutton Park on Saturday 11th April 2015.

There are 62 women's teams and 72 men's teams entered for the event. The women's race this year is a change in format with 2 long stages and 4 short stages replacing the traditional 6 short stages.

The course is also not the traditional route ERRA had hoped for but will be the same course used for this year's Midland champs.

The women's race may well see 2014 champions AFD holding on to their title while those most likely to give a challenge could be Midland champions Bristol & West and Northern champions Leeds - although Welsh team Swansea, last year's runner-up should also figure along with Belgrave, Cambridge and Coleridge and TVH.

The men's race could well be more open and is likely to see the lead changing hands many times before the end of leg 12. Last year's winners and current Northern champions Leeds could be pushed all the way by Morpeth. Shaftesbury will also be a strong contender but if Notts get their winning team out from the Midlands champs they will be ones to beat. Don't rule out Central from Scotland, last year's 4th placers and Kent, Newham & Essex Beagles, Bedford, Belgrave and AFD will also figure prominently.
