KT Tape provides support to England Masters Athletes

The KT Tape mission is to develop innovative solutions that help enable athletes to perform at their best – they are committed to supporting you to reach your full potential.  True to their word, and as Official Tape Partner of England Athletics, the team at KT Tape didn’t hesitate when asked, to support the England Age Group Masters 10k and Half Marathon athletes at last weekends representative races.

Across the weekend, over 50 athletes sought support and advice from the KT Tape team, ranging from day-to-day aches and pains through to common running related injuries. Runners were able to benefit from a free pre-race taping service provided by the KT Tape experts as well as free samples and demonstrations for those interested in trying the tape at a later date. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive with athletes keen to understand the benefits of the tape and how to use it correctly – a crucial part of the KT Tape mission.

Andrew Haney (pictured) of Chorlton Runners who finished the Kew Gardens 10k third in his M45 age group category was one of the athletes to benefit from their support. He said,

“Having the support of KT Tape was a real bonus. Over this past month I have been suffering from peroneal tendonitis but I was determined to race in this special event. I have been taping up throughout the duration of my training but I was using a cheaper generic sports tape which only lasted one session. This was the first time I had used KT Tape and my ankle felt great, much better support even with all the twists and turns of the Kew course. It also lasted for days and kept me supported throughout my long weekend, visiting the various London landmarks. I’m definitely converted.”

Janice Moorekite (Larkfield AC) ran in the Richmond Half for the F60 age group category. She benefitted from speaking to KT Tape prior to race day. Janice said, ”

I have in the past suffered with Laminectomy and therefore do continue to struggle with Sciatica and stiffness in my back and lower limbs on the left hand-side. In long distance races the stiffness worsens, often leaving me “falling” towards the right. Ed’s advice was great, he showed my husband how best to tape my lower back, hip, buttock and quads. When it came to race day I didn’t notice any stiffness and the tape was so comfortable that I didn’t even notice I was wearing it.”

England Athletics Road Running Manager Tom Craggs was delighted to welcome KT Tape as part of the wider support team. He said,

“We are strongly committed to raising the profile of the England Age Group Masters and in finding ways of making the occasion feel even more special. Feedback from athletes about their involvement has been incredibly positive and we are looking forward to welcoming KT Tape back again next month to support our Marathon athletes.”

KT Tape Vice President of Sales Ed Terris was part of the support team for the duration of the weekend and had the opportunity to talk to many of the athletes about the products. He noted,

“What a privilege and honour it was to be invited to support the England Masters Age Grade athletes! I had an amazing time conversing and applying tape to many of the members. What a great feeling it is to be able to be out and meeting and greeting people again. Thank you for your kindness and welcoming spirit about each of you! I know the team are greatly looking forward to supporting the Age Grade Masters Marathon athletes in York.”

What is KT Tape?

KT Tape is an elastic sports tape designed to relieve pain while supporting muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It is believed that KT Tape helps in reducing pressure to the tissue, which may reduce discomfort or pain. In addition, it is also believed that correct taping can help provide support to muscles by helping the muscle to not over-extend or over-contract. KT Tape is trusted by medical providers including physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, chiropractors, and massage therapists.

Who should use it?

Whether you are an elite athlete, training for your first marathon, reaching a personal fitness goal, or just trying to get through the day, nothing slows you down more than pain and injury. KT Tape is light weight, comfortable to wear, and can be used for many common injuries. KT Tape provides pain relief and support* so you don’t have to slow down.
