U20 Men

The U20 Men’s 200m could well see an indoor European Junior record; Toby Harries (Club: Brighton Phoenix, Coach: Jon Bigg), Cameron Tindle (Club: Edinburgh AC, Coach: Henry Gray), and Nick Stewart (Club: Enfield & Haringey A C, Coach: Ryan Freckleton) all competed in Samoa last year and have gone faster than the record time outdoors with Harries taking top spot at the Welsh International. 60m / 100m man Oliver Bromby (Club: Southampton AC, Coach: Sara MacDonald-Gray) will run his first 200m of the year at these championships.

The 60m sees a fantastic inter-home Countries line up with Rechmial Miller (Club: Hercules Wimbledon AC, Coach: Ryan Freckleton), and Oliver Bromby taking on Scot Cameron Tindle (Club: Edinburgh AC, Coach: Henry Gray) and Welshman Callum Davies (Club: Swansea Harriers, Coach: Wynford Leyshon). With Cameron Chalmers (Club: Guernsey Island AAC, Coach: Dale Garland) and Owen Richardson (Club: Basingstoke & Mid Hants AC, Coach: John Davis) fresh from 400m medals in Wales entered for that distance the track looks like it will be hosting non-stop action.

The men’s high jump sees a potentially exciting head-to-head between Rory Dwyer (Club: Stratford Upon Avon AC, Coach: Paul Bearman) and Tom Gale (Club: Team Bath AC, Coach: Diana Viles), with Dwyer also in top form for his 60m hurdles, having lowered his PB to 7.99 last weekend; he’ll be up against Matt Treston (Club: Reading AC, Coach: Adrian Brown) and multi-eventer Sam Talbot (Club: Exeter Harriers, Coach: Eldon Lake) in the hurdles.

Also in the field Adam Hague (Club: City of Sheffield AC, Coach: Trevor Fox) is in record-breaking form for the pole vault, and it is good to see two 16m plus shot putters entered; Daniel Cartwright (Club: Birchfield Harriers, Coach: Jan Aarre) and George Evans (Club: Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, Coach: Colin McCulloch), and Jude Bright-Davies (Club: Thames Valley Harriers, Coach: David Johnson) should feel confident with a new triple jump PB in Wales last weekend.

U20 Women

The race of the day could prove to be the U20 women’s 60m final, with Imani Lansiquot (Club: Sutton & District AC, Coach: Jonas Tawiah-Dodoo) up against Hannah Brier (Club: Swansea Harriers, Coach: Neal Merry) and Shannon Malone (Club: Deeside AAC, Coach: Leon Baptiste).

The sprint hurdles have attracted 21 entrants including number 1 ranked Mollie Courtney (Club: Cheltenham & County Harriers, Coach: David Warner), Sophie Yorke (Club: Cheltenham & County Harriers, Coach: David Warner) who achieved a PB in Wales last weekend, SEAA indoor silver medallist Hope Sarti (Club: Guildford & Godalming AC, Coach: Glyn Peckham), and Morgan Lake (Club: Windsor Slough Eton & H, Coach: Eldon Lake).

The longer sprints include entered Finette Agyapong (Club: Newham & Essex Beagles AC, Coach: Coral Nourrice) who has had recent good races at SEAA champs and in Cardiff, Hannah Williams (Club: Herts Phoenix AC, Coach: Colin Gaynor) who competed for England at the Commonwealth Youth Games, and Ella Barrett (Club: Chesterfield & District AC, Coach: Daniel Duke) who has moved up to the 400m this year and is definitely one to watch. Charlotte Cayton-Smith (Club: Cornwall AC, Coach: John Scott) goes in the 800m fresh from her win and Athlete of Match in Cardiff last weekend.

In the vertical jumps, Abigail Roberts (Club: City of Sheffield AC, Coach: Trevor Fox), and Jessica Robinson (Club: Windsor Slough Eton & H, Coach: Ellie Spain) both competed in Cardiff last weekend as did Abby Ward (Club: Wakefield District H & AC, Coach: Ian Hill) in the High Jump where she cleared a massive new PB. She’ll be up against Samoa medallists Niamh Emerson (Club: Amber Valley AC, Coach: David Feeney) and Ada'ora Chigbo (Club: North Somerset AC, Coach: Ken Holmes), plus European Junior Champion and multi-eventer Morgan Lake who is also entered for the long jump and hurdles.

The triple jump sees Naomi Ogbeta (Club: Trafford AC, Coach: Tom Cullen) who achieved a British Junior Record in Bratislava recently competing for England, up against Laura Zialor (Club: Milton Keynes AC, Coach: John Herbert) who in fact beat her in Wales last weekend. Charlotte Ogden (Club: Loughborough Students AC, Coach: Joe Frost) should prove an exciting addition to the mix.

U17 Men

The U17 Men’s competition is set to be fierce in the 60m with 54 entries including Tyrese Johnson-Fisher (Club: Croydon Harriers, Coach: Steve Fudge) and Jona Efoloko (Club: Sale Harriers Manchester, Coach: John Smith) who will take on the sprint double – both need to watch for Blake Tiger-lee Brown (Club: Wirral AC, Coach: Paul Waters) and Kaie Chambers-Brown (Club: Birchfield Harriers, Coach: Sharon Morris) who are also likely to be in the final mix of the 60m.

In the field, the pole vault will be the competition to watch. Both Frankie Johnson (Club: Bedford & County AC, Coach: Simon Eastwood) and local Joshua Lindley-Harris (Club: City of Sheffield & Dearne AC, Coach: Trevor Fox) have recently set new PBs and coach Trevor Fox will be hoping for his athlete to contribute to the pole vault medals along with U20 Adam Haigh and Abigail Roberts.

U17 Women

The U17 Women’s 200m sees 24.01 Ciara Neville (Ireland) taking on the local Billie Jo Harris (Club: City of Sheffield & Dearne AC, Coach: Veronica Boden) who ran a very promising 200m in the Welsh International last weekend. In the longer sprint, Amber Anning (Club: Brighton & Hove City AC, Coach: Stephen King) is most certainly one to watch; she is head and shoulders ahead of her competition.

On the field we see a real hope for the future in Holly Mills (Andover AC who has a PB of 6m29 in the long jump and will defend her title, with the SEAA crown already achieved in long jump and hurdles – which she will also defend. Hannah Molyneaux (Club: Nene Valley Harriers, Coach: Geoff Capes) is entered in the shot put with a PB of 14m44 and will hope to add the U17 gold to her U15 one from last year.

U15 Boys

The U15 Boys’ 300m is likely to see a great head to head between William Andoh (Club: Bishop Challoner, Coach: Michael Whittaker) who is ranked number 1 this year Edward Sheffield (Club: Burton AC, Coach: Paul Smith) who tops the indoor 600m and ran 38.4 in a 300m last June. They will also battle it out in the 200m where they will be up against short sprinter Jaleel roper (Club: Hercules Wimbledon AC, Coach: Paul Miller) who takes on the 60m and the 200m and has been consistently ranked number one for both in various age groups.

U15 Girls

The U15 Girls will be looking to have a very competitive competition in the long jump, with entrants’ PBs only separated by about 70cm throughout the field. On the track, with 37 competitors, the 60m hurdles look like they will be entertaining the crowd, and in the 60m English Schools' Junior Girls' 100m Champion Amy Hunt (Club: Grantham & District AC, Coach: Ian Richards) has a PB of 7.69 which was set just a couple of weeks back. Serena Vincent (Club: City Of Portsmouth AC, Coach: Bronwin Carter) is the SEAA indoor champion and has put past the 12m mark on a number of occasions and set a huge new PB of 12.74 in January.
