England Athletics announce their team for the 2023 Armagh International Road Race

The Armagh International Road Race, run over 3km and 5km, has traditionally attracted some of Europe's best athletes to one of the strongest annual road race fields. England Athletics have selected a strong team of eight athletes to join them. 

Ellie Wallace (coach: Julian Emery; club: North Somerset) achieved an automatic selection after winning the England 5km Road Championships at Mid Cheshire 5k in August, running a selection standard and PB of 15:48 on the way.

Wallace is joined by the 10th placed finisher over 5000m at the Commonwealth Games, Calli Thackery (Vince Wilson, Hallamshire) who set a road 5km best of 14:58 at the Podium 5km in July.

Jennifer Walsh (Philip Townsend, Leeds City) achieves selection after a very strong year including a 4th placed finish at the Intercounties XC and PBs of 15:54 over 5000m and 9:13 over 3000m.

Elle Twentyman (Taunton) completes the team after setting a big 5km PB of 15:46.

Official reserve Rebecca Johnson (Lewis Walker, Highgate) replaces Jennifer Walsh (Philip Townsend, Leeds City) who is unable to take part in the race.

Kurt Taylor (Bristol & West) also gained automatic selection as England 5km Champion backed up with a big 5000m PB of 14:02 set in July.

Taylor is joined on the team by Jacob Allen (Steve McGowan, Highgate) who ran 13:46 over 5000m in July with consistent performances on the road, track and cross country across the year.

Kieran Clements (Shaftesbury Barnet) is another man selected following consistent from across the year which included setting a 5000m PB of 13:51.

Ian Crowe-Wright (Geoff Wightman, Brighton & Hove) completes the team following a fantastic year, setting PBs of 7:56 over 3000m and 13:47 over 5000m.
