East End Road Runners' big weekend at the Big Half

East End Road Runners were out in force at the Big Half marathon. Most of the club were either running the half marathon or volunteering on a water station at mile 3. For a lot of members this was the furthest distance they had run.

Club member Paul Jackson had secured places through his school’s charity, The Poplar Partnership; the money will go towards building the school’s nursery this summer - so far, the runners have raised over £42,500.

The following members achieved personal bests; Jimmi Lee, Remi Kubar, Naomi Elliott, Callum Millward, Charissa Taylor, Mark Sheraton, Toyin Omodara, Gopal Gautam, George Sceats, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sarah Wixey, Sherry Moran, Mark Widdicombe, and Yogesh Patel.

The following members made their club and distance debuts; Joe Watts, Martin Vickery, Shreeraj Laturia, Imran Patel, Nick Reeves, Tamsin Briggs, Monica Secretan, Victoria Carvajal, Janet Thomas, Janet Campbell, Lucy Footman and Lena Choi.

Members who weren’t running turned up at the crack of dawn to man the water stations at mile 3 and cheer on the runners. These included Bisi Imafidon, Marcella Toth, Shirley Sceats, Colin Wilkins, Katherine Bellinger, Catherine Apps, Dave Elsom, Emily Risness and Mira Patel.

The club welcomes all ages, abilities and personalities. They train Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm at Newham Leisure Centre. If you would like further information please visit www.eerr.org.uk.
