CE Electric UK Investment
CE Electric UK, which distributes electricity in Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire through its subsidiary companies, Northern Electric Distribution Limited, NEDL, and Yorkshire Electricity Distribution plc, YEDL, has partnered with Sportsmatch and England Athletics to create a unique scheme that aims to raise the standards of young athletes and coaches across Yorkshire and Humberside.
The aim of the Switched onto Athletics Performance Programme is to support athletes reaching their ultimate goal – to represent GB and England, and be a medalist on the podium at major championships focusing on London 2012 and beyond.
CE Electric UK wants to ensure that athletics remains the nation’s favourite Olympic sport. By building the regional capacity of the sport and inspiring the next generation of coaches, the programme investment will be vital to developing more top athletes.
The Programme Objective
England Athletics is working to raise standards in every event, across all age groups throughout the region. Switched onto Athletics is a key regional performance programme that will enable England Athletics to achieve this goal.
The England Athletics Regional Performance Programme will focus on 14-19 year olds and will be held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield – one of the finest high performance centres in the UK.
The programme will be led by a team of regional and county Performance Coaches whose role will be to raise standards and develop their event across the region. In addition to this, a focus of their work will be to engage with coaches from across the region to develop a network of event specific coaches that are accessible to athletes, coaches and clubs throughout Yorkshire and Humberside.
CE Electric UK and Sportsmatch will work in partnership with England Athletics to support and develop the region’s coaches, focusing on coach education, development and a mentoring programme.
