The regional council co-ordinates the interests and activities of the voluntary sector within athletics in order to develop all disciplines of the sport. They represent the interests of the voluntary sector and provide leadership whilst co-ordinating interaction between volunteer and professional groups to further the sport within the region.
The regional council consists of twelve members. Six of these have been elected. Five further members will be co-opted following the next council meeting.
