Competition programme Prior to the October calendar congress England Athletics will work with UKA to identify inclusive competition opportunities for the next summer that do not clash and cause problems for athletes. There is a need to ensure that the competition programme includes opportunities for athletes with a disability.

Initial Athlete contact from England Athletics
The England Competition Programme with selection dates will be put on the England Athletics website as soon possible after the Calendar Conference.
UKA Performance Managers will be emailed a full list of competition opportunities will be expected to let the selectors know the competition requirements of their athletes before the selection date.
UKA Senior Event Group Coordinators will liaise with Event Management Groups and National Event Coaches to identify other athletes to be put forward for selection.
Working with UKA Performance Staff and Event Management Groups
Performance and event management group staff will be informed of the full summer programme as soon as possible after the calendar congress in order that they can plan competition progression for the summer. This will also enable competitions opportunities to be identified for new talent coming through.
Working with the Regions through RPDCs and Talent Managers
Talent Managers and Regions can also nominate new talent that is progressing to international level.
Collation of nominations
England Performance Manger will collate team nominations for the final selection. Nominations will be ranked in order of priority before being presented to the final England selection panel.

Selection Criteria
1. The teams selected for England would not necessarily be the best athletes in England.
2. England teams will provide competition opportunities for athletes progressing up the athlete pathway and for world class funded athletes in need of competition.
3. England will not keep using the same athletes for its team but would instead aim to provide competition opportunities where needed. Teams will be selected using the following criteria.
- Athletes needing competition as part of their preparation for major championship (SPC/SPM nomination)
- Athletes needing qualifying standards opportunity (SPC/SPM nomination)
- Athletes returning from injury (SPC/SPM nomination)
- Development opportunity – (RPM/TDM/PC/NEC/Regional nomination)
o progression from junior ranks
o GB athletes inexperienced in competing abroad
o Athletes breaking into elite level
