A small England team of 12 travelled to the Norwegian town of Floro for the final Indoor England match of the season. In the small arena the team showed their outstanding class against opposition from Norway, Ukraine, Russia and Slovenia.
Mark Findlay ran a series of outstanding races to take the 60m (6.69) and the 100m (10.43). In the 60m he was closely followed by Simeon Williamson (6.78) with Lloyd Rice and Jeffrey Lawal Balogun finishing 4th & 5th both with a time of 6.87. In the heats Lloyd Rice was left in the strange position of running alone after 4 false start disqualifications. In the women’s race Emma Bailey finished 4th in a time of 7.66
In the Sprint Hurdles there were victories in both the men’s and women’s events. Chanelle Garnett broke the track record with a winning time of 8.59s
The men’s race proved to be more of a challenge with William Sharman just edging out the Russian Sergey Molchanov both with the same time of 7.89s. 3rd & 4th places went to Dominic Girdler (8.06) and Duncan Malins (8.07).
The women’s long jump was the only field event to take place Sarah Rossiter was always going to be up against it with two talented Russians leading the way. The competition was won with a jump of 6.34m Sarah finished a very creditable third with a third round jump of 5.83m
