English Cross Country Association
It is the policy of the Association to send teams to major international cross country events, in order that athletes develop and gain experience of travelling and competing against good quality athletes from other Countries.
England teams are selected for the Senior age group and the IAAF Under 20 age groups for both men and women. No athlete who is under the age of 16 on the day of competition will be selected and if under18 will be required to complete a parental consent form.
Selection
Recommended criteria for athletes to be considered for selection:
Athletes should have entered the Gateshead Cross Country on 10th November, and also the trial for the European Championships in Liverpool on 24th November 2007.
England teams will not be going to Brussels due to the close proximentry with Christmas, but individual athletes are welcome to make their own arrangements with Centresport Travel.
Athletes are encouraged to run in their County and Regional Championships.
Fixtures
Please note that athletes will not be selected for England teams if they have raced internationally the previous weekend.
5th January -Belfast - Senior Men and Women
Selection based on performances at Gateshead and Liverpool.
13th January – Elgoibar, Spain – Senior and Under 20 Men and Women
Selection based on performances at Liverpool and general form.
20th January – Seville, Spain – Under 20 Men and Women
Selection based on general form including the County Championships.
10th February –Dour Belgium – Senior and U 20 Men and Women
Selection based on general form and Regional Championships.
29th March – Edinburgh – Home Countries International.
Senior and Junior Men and Women using UKA age rules
Selection based on the English National (Alton Towers) and the World Championship Trial at
the UK CAU Inter-Counties (Nottingham)
