Any aspiring Endurance Official (Road Running and/or Cross Country) needs to be completing the form in the attachment below as they acquire experience of assisting at events. This needs to be done before attending the mandatory endurance course (after 6 months minimum) which is currently being arranged for delivery nationwide.
Endurance Officials Courses for Road & Cross Country Clubs are of 5 hours duration (from 10am to 3pm), delivered by Paul Ross who has already delivered courses in the South West. Each course will cover most aspects needed to be a qualified endurance official including: -
-
Timekeeping – practical advice for multiple race starts & finishes in road & cross country races
-
Road & Cross Country rules – an explanation of the rules that apply
-
Officiating at events – some practical advice & guidance
-
Health & Safety at events – a brief overview.
This is a summary of some of the main aspects of the course content, if you require further information or clarification, please contact England Athletics South West Region Office Tel. 01392 879733 or speak to Paul Ross on 01752 207375.
Remember from Jan 1st 2008 all permitted road races must have a qualified UKA Licenced Road Running Official at the event to be given a permit so if your road running or cross country club does not have an endurance official who is currently qualified, please send a suitable volunteer to one of these courses.
