Aims The main focus of the network plan is to increase the number of active coaches in clubs, increase the quality of coaching and also increase the number of people coaching the technical disciplines of jumps and throws. This will not only allow for the clubs to reduce the number of people on their waiting lists but also allow more athletes to have access to all disciplines in Athletics rather than just endurance etc. because clubs lack coaches across all the disciplines. This increase in coaches will be shared by all clubs with expert coaches from some clubs running sessions for all club coaches to benefit.
Key Projects

As the quality and number of coaches is increased a coordinated approach to increasing participation will be undertaken. This will involve placing the club coach into specific clubs for a period of time to run new induction group sessions. These will be filled with children who have been introduced to athletics via after school clubs in the area funded either by the PDM or some sport unlimited money. The club coach will also be on hand to mentor any new level 1 so that are active from the moment they have taken the course.

By working together the Network will be able to utilise resourses that some clubs have to be more engaged with local schools, be more active at local athletic events such as Sportshall and County school finals and hence increase participation across all clubs. Also working closely with the Run in England activator will ensure that all new groups are set up in strategic areas that will allow a natural feed into athletics clubs for those that want it.

By inviting the better athletes across the county to be involved with the Coach development sessions will allow them not only to experience higher quality coaching but also with their club coaches take this back into their own club environment. This should then help not only sustain athletes in the sport but also raise the standard

The website will not only be a central place for all Network activity but as this is such a powerful media tool will also promote the Network and the clubs involved. It will hold central information on the Network, activities going on in the Network and the clubs and be a central place for all coaching acitivites going on as well as a forum etc.
