Club secretaries
Club secretaries are among the most important people in our sport. Athletics in England is built upon the work done by clubs and the secretaries and other committee members play a vital role in maintaining and developing this structure.
We aim to be in regular contact with club secretaries via our Club and Coach Support Officers, emails, posted information and other contact from England Athletics staff. However we recognise the immense amount of work that club secretaries do and therefore want to do all we can to eliminate unnecessary work for them. It is well worth ensuring that your club has kept the club’s information up to date at www.englandathletics.org/editmyclub. This is an important aspect of the governance of the sport but also works to your club's advantage.
Encouraging your members to visit www.englandathletics.org/editmyprofile and keep their own profile up to date will minimise the work needing to be done by the club secretary when affiliation and athlete/volunteer registration time rolls around again.
It also means that much of the day-to-day information your members want can be delivered directly to them in accordance with whatever options they have ticked on their profile. This will reduce the amount of information you need to be giving to different members and free up club secretaries time for other work (or even some well deserved leisure time!).
If you have parents that want to know more about the sport their children are involved in you can also encourage them to sign up to our Parent Power information at www.englandathletics.org/parentpower. This will help keep them up to date on what is going on in the sport as well as giving them a clearer understanding of the role and importance of clubs.
If you have any problems or questions about keeping your club membership records up to date please contact Membership Services on 0121 347 6543 or at affiliation@englandathletics.org. You can also see www.englandathletics.org/affiliation for useful guidance on club affiliation, athlete registration and using the club portal.
