Commonwealth Games Selection Policy

This policy has been created to nominate a team to achieve the best possible results at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi (the “Games”), (that is the highest possible number of top eight places). It supersedes the policy issued in October 2009.

England Athletics (EA) will use this policy to nominate athletes to the Commonwealth Games England (CGE) who ratify the selections. The CGE will allocate EA a maximum team size, (100 athletes at the time of writing), covering all disciplines, including para-events. England Athletics intends to nominate the maximum number of athletes that have achieved the qualifying standards. However; athletes should note that gaining guideline standard does not guarantee a place on the team. The team will be picked in a single selection meeting to be held on 18th August 2010, except for the marathon and walks, which will be selected as per the marathon and walks policy below. The team will be announced immediately after ratification by Commonwealth Games England.

Please note that at the time of writing the Local Organising Committee will not issue accreditation for any personal coaches. This means that only team coaches will have access to the training and warm-up tracks and the coaching areas for the technical events during competition.
