Cross Country Co-ordinators

Regional Council

England Athletics has nine Regional Councils. Each has responsibility for representing the volunteer interests of the sport, supporting the staff in their area and giving input into investment. The council is also working towards developing strong links with key partners such as County Athletics Development Groups, Sport England, Private Sector Business and other agencies. There are also a number of focus groups in the region who work to develop specific areas such as coaching, officials, road running etc – these groups are made up of key individuals plus representatives from each county in the region.

  Nigel has been elected as Chair for SW and has been chair since the formation of England Athletics.  He believes the regional councils have an important role within the sport.  He takes the lead at a national level for road running and represents England on the runbritain technical group. He's a tutor for Race Director courses and also represents road running on the UKA Members' Council.

  Keith has served on the SW Council as both a co-opted member and and elected member. He is a club secretary, coach and National technical official.  He has been representing the SW council on the tri regional officials group for a number of years, and has tried to develop opportunities for SW officials in that time.

  Neil's separate roles as competitive athlete, coach and organiser have each spanned more than 30 years. After student life in Cambridge and Lancaster he settled in Bristol as a software engineer, and has recently developed a video analysis service for both club and fitness runners. As cross-country lead, he is keen to explore the imaginative potential of the event.
• Maureen Pearson
  Mo is a  former teacher of physical education and present secretary & team manager for Cornwall Schools.  She has worked as a community athletics coach for the County Sports Partnership and is a level 4 coach of heavy throws and member of the National Coach Development Programme.  Mo has been a co-opted member of the SW Athletics Council with portfolios for Education & Athletic Networks.
