The organization and running of London region’s officials is a joint effort by the 4 counties surrounding London. Additionally, in conjunction with their County Associations, counties organise training sessions for keeping in touch with technology, social evenings, forums and development days. You can find more information on officials on our national page. The region works closely with the South of England Athletics Officials' Association (SEAOA) promoting and encouraging the participation in officiating. Their website provides further details of activities (including annual conference) which may interest officials of all levels www.seaoa.co.uk.
Officials' courses
Level 1, Level 2 and Health & Safety courses are organised by England Athletics and run in each county determined by local demand. Higher level courses are run by UKA. Click here to visit the England Athletics Courses and Bookings section to see what Officials' courses and events are taking place in London. You can view L1 courses and H&S ("Other") by choosing from the dropdown box. To sign up for and attend officials courses please contact officials-south@englandathletics.org or call 0121 347 6548.
Are you interested in organising a Level 1 course in London?
We can organise Level 1 Assistant Officials' Courses tailored to meet the needs of those looking to take their first step into Officiating. Normally offered to parents, athletes and youngsters looking to get into volunteering and leadership roles, the Level 1 Course enables someone to receive a licence having first demonstrated their commitment to work in the sport through a process of supported practice. The Level 1 course is traditionally a one day course and the cost for a Level 1 course is £10 per head (includes tutor fee, resources and the like)
For further information on how you can host a Level One Officials' Course in your club, school or local community, contact officials-south@englandathletics.org or call 0121 347 6548.
Duty Sheets, Reports and Upgrading
Level One and Two officials should send their Record of Experience ("Duty Sheet") to their COffSec. Level Three and above should send to Wendy Haxell at wenden@ntlworld.com. It is far easier filling this in as an ongoing exercise as the year progresses rather than leaving it until the end. The form can be downloaded on the national officials' page.
Officials' reports for upgrading of Level Three and upwards should be sent to Wendy Haxell at wenden@ntlworld.com who will collate the reports for review by the Tri-Regions group which will consider upgradings and nominations for national meetings. The London representatives appointed by the Regional council to the Tri-Regional group are:
- Field: Bob Miller
- Track: Gill Freeman
- Timekeeping: Paul Langston
- Starter/Marksman: Gerald Alterman
