Athlete status checks by registered event organisers

  • Ensure you receive the full entries monies that you are due
  • Ensure your competition is held fairly

Whether you organise a road race, a track and field league or another form of competition you are likely to want to check the status of athletes entering your events.

Road race organisers should not miss out on revenue due to athletes falsely claiming the competition licence holders' discount on race entries. Only eligible athletes should be able to score points whether for their team or individual rankings.

Checks for road race entries

The runbritain online entry system is available to any race that obtains its UKA Race Licence  through runbritain.

The online entry system asks for a runner’s unique runners number (URN) which is then automatically checked through the England Athletics database to ensure that a runner is genuinely affiliated to the governing body. This is important from a race organiser’s perspective because it ensures that the £2.00 differential between affiliated and unaffiliated runners goes to the race. No other system offers this level of checking and guarantee of a runner’s status.

For full details on race licensing go to www.runbritain.com/rdp and for specific questions on the runbritain online entry system please contact Gavin Lightwood glightwood@uka.org.uk

Checking athletes' statuses

The best way to check an athlete's eligibility is by asking for their Competition Licence Number also known as their URN (Unique Registration Number) from their competition licence on your entry form or league registration form.

However checks can also be carried out by name. Club secretaries, including registered competition providers are able to access the tool which enables you to carry out checks by Competition Licence Number (URN) or by name

You can check the status of large numbers of athletes in one go by uploading a spreadsheet of event entrants using a template available on the Event Organisers Licence Check Portal.

This 'Excel template - Event Organisers Licence Check' is also available for download here. Simply paste the relevant details into the appropriate columns.
