There's the England Athletics 365 initiative, the UKA Aviva Academy awards and competition as well as staff/coach training events happening nationwide. Don't forget there are over 50 McCain Athletics Networks nationwide who may be able to help you create links with local clubs too. With just one year until London 2012, how about creating a staff or Year 12/13 team to take up the new 2012 Gold Challenge?

Gold Challenge Gold Challenge: Track and Field Team Challenge

The Gold Challenge is a unique opportunity for everyone to be a part of the London 2012 Legacy by taking on multiple Olympic and Paralympic sports and raising money for charity. As well as individuals, teams made up of work mates, colleagues and friends can take part.

The Aviva UKA Academy Awards offer an effective test for your children / potential athletes as they learn to enjoy all aspects of running, jumping and throwing. For coaches or teachers using Athletics 365 or Elevating Athletics to develop athlete skills this is a good way for recognising and monitoring athlete outcomes in terms of 'how fast, how long, how high'.

England Athletics will be staging three area-level short form competition workshops for networks and any other affiliated club representatives.  The free workshops will be concentrating on QuadKids and Super8, with an Athletics 365 update too.

The North of Tyne McCain Athletics Network is taking its first few steps in creating new opportunities to participate in athletics for youngsters in the region by hosting its first ever half-term athletics camp in the new leisure facilities at Forest Hall, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Harlow Athletics Club All Ability Section aims to help with development of athletics for disabled people.  They are organizing a couple of fun all-ability competitions for all age groups and targeted at grass roots level encouraging participation into competition.

 

Disability Action Plan launch 120 Coaching conference sees launch of Disability Action Plan

England Athletics has launched its Disability Action Plan at the National Coaching Conference at Lee Valley Athletics Centre. Among those present to support the launch were Paralympic gold medallists Danny Crates and Noel Thatcher.

Aviva Elevating Athletics courses are aimed at qualified and trainee teachers and those supporting the management and delivery of high quality sport and physical education in schools. Two are available: Certificate in Teaching Primary Athletics, and Certificate in Teaching Secondary Athletics.

McCain Athletics Network logo Have you considered joining an Athletics Network?
The McCain Athletics Networks are clusters of clubs working strategically with other local key partners (such as schools) to develop athletics, drive up the quality of coaching, create links with community groups such as schools, and create local competition.
