Aims The network has been developed from a very successful local athletics development group in South Cumbria.  The group have joined forces with Lancaster and Morecambe to develop and provide more athletics activity in the local area.

The network will be the voice of athletics in both areas and is hoped to have joined up development plan to increase athletics provision and participation.

The network will develop links between a number of different partners to ensure a united delivery. The network will develop Club/Schools links and work with local Colleges and Universities.
Key Projects Activities proposed by the network include introduction of a coach mentoring programme that will help local coaches to up-skill and develop as coaches. To develop new opportunities for people to participate in athletics at all levels, the Network will use the rural environment to establish a series of races and events to suit the local need.

To assist with achieving these goals the Network will employ a Coordinator in the near future.
