Coach development covers broader areas of coach development that support the knowledge gained on a coach education course. England Athletics delivers and supports the broader development of coaches through a number of ways. This could be through a series of events or workshops like the annual coaching conference series, or something smaller scale delivered through an Athletics Network and supported by a Club and Coach Support Officer.

Bruce Longden Coaching Foundation
Bruce Longden coached athletes including Sally Gunnell and Daley Thompson, guiding both to Olympic Gold and World records. This Foundation has been established to carry on the legacy of Bruce Longden, who was so unexpected taken from us in July 2012. His passion was to help coaches, at all levels, to enhance their knowledge and especially in the hurdles events, and to therefore help athletes develop as well. To promote the development of coaches in track and field athletic events, specifically hurdling, and also promote the development of athletes in hurdling. In addition to coaching qualifications England Athletics works to provide opportunities for coaches to develop their skills. We recognise that highly skilled, well supported and motivated coaches will enable us to grow future generations of athletics champions.
