As we all know, there are events that we struggle to get coaches involved in, let alone athletes, due to the technical nature or perceptions of the event!
Here in the North West we are looking to give coaches of any level and background the opportunity to work with experienced coaches on practical coaching techniques and theory. Whether you are just starting out in this event or whether you can just see the benfit of sharing knowledge with a network of like minded coaches, these event specific initiatives could help you get quickly off the ground and coaching the event at your club or improving existing training techniqes for the benefit of your athletes.

NW Hammer Coaching Day with Malcolm Fenton
National Hammer Coach, Malcolm Fenton, has kindly agreed to travel up to Wavertree, Liverpool on Sunday 4th November 2007 to run a hammer coaching day for the benefit of North West coaches and athletes.
We would like to invite hammer coaches and athletes of any level to take advantage of this day! The day will start at 10.00 am with Malcolm Fenton looking at event specific topics and demonstrations such as conditioning for hammer throwers, drills and assistance exercises, swings, entry and delivery and, provided the beautiful NW weather holds out, some practical implementation too.

Pole Vault
The NW Pole Vault Club will be hosting a number of sessions over the winter months at the fantastic indoor centre at Sportcity, Manchester and is inviting all Pole Valut Coaches of any level, with their athlete(s), to attend.
These sessions are predominantly aimed at coaches working together ina warm environment to enhance their technical knowledge of the event and pass on their experience to others coming into the event, whilst allowing the athletes regular access to an indoor facility, imperative for this event during the winter!
The sessions will take place on the following dates:

Combined Events
To continue on from the excellent work Chris Bartram has done over many years in getting us to being one of the best regions for Combined Eventers Roger Devlin has now stepped in top take up the reins and coordinate a series of combined events development days in conjunction with England Athletics NW.
The Saturday event development days will be held on the following dates, starting at 10.00 am and finishing by 3.00 pm
10th November 2007
1st December 2007
26th January 2008
8th March 2008
These days will work on event specific training for the various elements of combined events and are aimed at athletes and coaches that would like a helping hand from event specialists in the individual disciplines.
