Katie Jones - Regional Performance & Development Coordinator

I started my athletics career in my primary school team and was soon encouraged to join Salford Mets AC to begin sportshall athletics, track and field and cross country where I was a Greater Manchester Champion (a little known fact!). With 22 years in the sport, I am still a competitive athlete for Trafford AC, and my greatest achievements to date are competing for GB and England senior teams, most memorably in the 400mH at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in my home town of Manchester. I am also a qualified coach, currently completing my level 3, specialising in 400m hurdles along with strength and conditioning, where I am working toward the UK S&C Association membership. After completing a BA (hons) in communication studies at Sheffield Hallam University and needing to train full time for the CG 2002, I left a job with Casio and took a role within the regional performance department of UK Athletics where I spent 4 years before joining the England Athletics team. My role is now geared towards assisting athletes to reach their full potential by working with North West coaches through talent academies and clubs to increase capacity and improve performance whilst supporting club development through their local athletics development groups.  Debbie Beresford - Regional Administrator

Recently moved from Greatersport to England Athletics. I have been involved with Club Athletics for over 11 years as a coach/official and athlete. I volunteered at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and have completed the London Marathon 4 times.

Sarah Friday - Regional Performance & Development Coordinator

Upon completion of a BSc Sports Science (Hons) at University of Wales, Bangor I gained employment with Welsh Athletics where I spent two years working as a club development officer. I have also been involved in coordinating star track schemes and Sportshall athletics competitions. I currently compete for Deeside AC and have recently taken up sprint hurdles and fill in the gaps in other events when required! I’ve competed in both the pole vault and triple jump for Wales, and hope to reach that level as a senior athlete. I am also an active qualified coach, and am currently completing my level 3 specialising in triple jump, whilst also having gained qualifications in sprints, endurance and jumps which I have coached at club level. My role within the team is to support club development specifically within Cumbria and Lancashire, whilst also taking a lead on UKA initiatives. Tel: 0161 223 6161
