Tyne & Wear Sport is one of 49 County Sports Partnerships located across England. We are funded and supported by Sport England and a wide range of sub regional partners to co-ordinate activity and sports programmes in Tyne & Wear.
Tyne and Wear comprises the cities of Newcastle and Sunderland and the boroughs of Gateshead, North Tyneside and South Tyneside. It contains 43% of the population of the North East and is the most densely populated area in the region. In addition to the five local authorities Tyne & Wear Sport's partners include the sub region's three Universities, Further Education Colleges, TyneWear Economic Partnership, School Sport Partnerships, Strategic Health Authority, Governing Bodies of Sport and Equity groups.
