Yorkshire & Humberside Disability Sport Success
The Yorkshire and Humberside region had a successful time at the recent Federation of Disability Sport Awards, when they picked up 5 awards; with all the winners coming from those supported through the region’s individual grants scheme.
The winners were:
-
Young Achiever (boy) Junior Sportsman of the year - Matthew Hickling (Leeds City)
-
Most Promising Junior Newcomer (Boy) - Paul Willis (Halifax Harriers)
-
Sportswoman of the year - Claire Ryan (Halifax Harriers)
-
Gary Hayton Memorial Trophy (for outstanding achievement by a junior performer) - Hollie Arnold (Cleethorpes AC)
-
Coach of the Year - Paul Moseley (leeds city)
The four junior athletes – Matthew, Paul, Hollie and Paul - are part of the regional disability performance squad.
The region’s athletics organisation narrowly failed to win the National Governing Body award, after being pipped to the title by Rugby League.
