The 2014 winners of the England Athletics regional volunteer awards for the West Midlands are announced. The annual awards provide a unique opportunity to recognise the outstanding contributions made to our sport by these people who give their time, energy and expertise to our sport.

Howard and Clova Court have been recognised nationally for work with disadvantaged young people in Sandwell and the Black country which includes their work with Wolves Bilston Athletics Club, Sandwell Athletics Development, Streetgames and the Q3 Academy.
The Staffordshire Athletics Network will be holding an endurance workshop day on 22nd November at the Alleynes Sports Centre in Stone. The morning workshop runs from 10am to noon and is entitled Volume vs Intensity through maturation. In the afternoon a Biomechanics for Athletes workshop with an interview followed by QA and drills.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic person to become the Aston University RUN Activator (voluntary position) with the key aim of increasing participation levels in athletics and running amongst students at Aston University.
Selection races for the 2015 London Mini Marathon West Midlands team will be taking place on Saturday 28th February and are open to all West Midlands qualified athletes under UKA Rules. All races will be over 3 miles on traffic free roads and entry is free.
Tamworth AC was the latest club to be visited by England Athletics CEO Chris Jones, as part of his ongoing series of visits to affiliated clubs across the country. The club, part of the South Staffordshire Athletics Network, has produced a number of senior international athletes in its 40 year history and is open four times a week for training at their stadium on the outskirts of the town.
The West Midlands Coach Development Days are free and open to all coaches and run leaders of any level of experience who feel they would benefit from attending. Each day will consist of parallel sessions for Track and Field Coaches and for Run Leaders.
On Sunday 28th September Birmingham HIPAC will be hosting the 2014 Midlands and South West Annual Coaching Conference. This year there is a fantastic selection of workshops available to all coaches and leaders who want to develop their skills and knowledge within the sport. The conference has also managed to secure two fantastic key note speakers that are sure to be a strong pull for all coaches and leaders.
