Celebrities, including Matt Johnson, Anna Williamson, Nick Bright and four-time Olympian Donna Fraser, have teamed up with England Athletics and Mind to launch a national campaign to highlight the importance of getting physically active for mental health and wellbeing.
In accordance with previous arrangements, UK Athletics will be re-issuing UKA Rules for Competition with effect from 1st April, 2018. The published timeline sets out the process that will be applied and acts as the invitation to submit your proposals for technical rule changes.
Truro Running Club are the latest club to take part in the England Athletics Club Run initiative. As one of England Athletics most south westerly affiliated club in the heart of Cornwall the club were delighted to be involved in this national programme.
We would like to remind Clubs and Athletes Members that we are approaching the 30 June - this is the deadline for athletes to renew their registration with England Athletics. After this date athletes who were registered for 2016-17 must have had their registration renewed, they will show as unregistered from Saturday 1 July.
An athletics club volunteer, a seated thrower, and a coach have all been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours. The BEM (British Empire Medal) was awarded to Ros Cramp for services to Disability Sport and to Ron Allison for services to Athletics. Paralympian Claire Harvey receives an MBE for services to Diversity, Inclusion and Sport. In addition, Sport England's CEO Jennie Price was recognised for her work.
One of those awarded a British Empire Medal in the recent Queen's Birthday Honours is Ros Cramp who volunteers much of her spare time with Stevenage and North Herts Athletics Club, as well as giving her time freely to a number of other sports to support disabled people.
While Day One may have been seen as a tough act to follow, the second day of the England Athletics U23 U20 certainly did that. Highlights included a new British Junior record and many athletes booked places to head to European Championship locations as athlete after athlete secured European U20 or U23 qualifying performances.
There were new championship records set in two high jump events as a superb day of competition at Bedford culminated in a series of fast 100m finals at the end of the afternoon. With strong performances across a range of events on the track and in the field there was always plenty of great action to be watching as the action unfolded.
