BASC bursaries available for coaches and officials

The British Athletics Supporters' Club (BASC) is looking to assist Coaches and Officials with bursaries. BASC will award sums of up to £250 to successful applicants who wish to pursue higher standards. This might possibly, but not exclusively, involve attending a qualification course run by UK Athletics, England Athletics or similar organisations.

Queen's Birthday Honours for three of our athletics family

An athletics club volunteer, a seated thrower, and a coach have all been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours. The BEM (British Empire Medal) was awarded to Ros Cramp for services to Disability Sport and to Ron Allison for services to Athletics. Paralympian Claire Harvey receives an MBE for services to Diversity, Inclusion and Sport. In addition, Sport England's CEO Jennie Price was recognised for her work.

Volunteers' Week: Running Coach Denise Nott

As part of National Volunteers' Week, from the 1st to the 7th June, we will be celebrating the fantastic work of our volunteers within the Athletics and Running community whose dedication, commitment and enthusiasm make the sport happen! On day five we are celebrating Denise Nott, a coach at Calne Running Club. Denise decided to take her Coach in Running Fitness Course, to ensure the athletes at the club were given the best possible training and support they could get.

Vote Now - England Athletics shortlisted for Women's Sport Trust Awards

Judges have shortlisted England Athletics as a finalist for the Women's Sport Trust #BeAGameChanger Awards. We were selected as a finalist in the category for governing bodies along with British Triathlon and England Netball due to the work being done though the sport to redress the gender balance in participation and coaching of athletics and running. The award is decided by a public vote - you can vote now.

Eating Disorders Awareness Week

From 27 February through to 5 March B-eat (the UK's eating disorder charity) will be working to raise awareness of these serious mental illnesses. The theme this year focuses on the vital role GPs play in getting people into treatment as quickly as possible.
