England Athletics was saddened to hear news of the death of Phil Tomkins, the former President and Chairman of the Suffolk Athletics Association. Phil died on the 9th July aged 82 years old.
In accordance with previous arrangements, UK Athletics will be re-issuing UKA Rules for Competition with effect from 1st April, 2018. The published timeline sets out the process that will be applied and acts as the invitation to submit your proposals for any rule changes.
The British Athletics Supporters' Club (BASC) is looking to assist Coaches and Officials with bursaries. BASC will award sums of up to £250 to successful applicants who wish to pursue higher standards. This might possibly, but not exclusively, involve attending a qualification course run by UK Athletics, England Athletics or similar organisations.
England Athletics, funded by Spirit of 2012 are encouraging clubs to host either a Volunteering Open Day or Officials Taster Session as a way of inspiring more people to volunteer within the club. Burton Athletics Club are one of the clubs who will be delivering an Officials Taster Session on a club night, followed by a Level 1 officiating course at the end of the month.

For the month of June and kicking off with Volunteers' Week, England Athletics, RunTogether and Team Personal Best are joining organisations up and down the country in recognising and celebrating volunteers, the amazing arm of people who make our sport happen.
As part of National Volunteers' Week, from the 1st to the 7th June, we will be celebrating the fantastic work of our volunteers within the Athletics and Running community whose dedication, commitment and enthusiasm make the sport happen! It's day one and today we will be celebrating the great work of India Hollingworth, a young official whose passion and dedication has secured her place as starter's assistant on the track during the IAAF World Championships London 2017 and call-room assistant at the World Para Athletics.
