London Schools Athletics travel to Gateshead for this weekends prestigious English Schools Track & Field Championships. The event runs from Friday the 1st July until Saturday the 2nd.

With record numbers forecast to take part in the four LICC matches in 2011, the results collation has become a challenging job. To avoid future delays both on the day and in getting the results distributed, we need one or two volunteers to work on the day, in initially entering the entries onto a laptop.

29.Jun.11 Another club record for Herne Hill star
Herne Hill Harriers’ Katie Snowden has made it into the headlines once again this week after breaking the club’s senior and under 20 women’s 400m record. The 17-year old athlete clocked 54.51 seconds in the 400m final of the UK under 20 Championships 25 June, finishing in fourth place overall but still managing to run faster than last year when she won the title.

27.Jun.11 Balfour Beatty - London Youth Games
This Sunday 3rd July sees the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games athletics competition at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre featuring athletes from school years 8&9 representing their London boroughs. Thirty one London boroughs are competing & the athletes will include London champions, nationally ranked athletes and several athletes who will have travelled down from Gateshead the night before having competed at the English school championships on Friday and Saturday 1st & 2nd July

21.Jun.11 Young Londoner gets call up for World Youth Games
Herne Hill Harriers’ Katie Snowden (Coach: James McDonald) has been selected to compete for Great Britain in the World Youth Championships next month. The young athlete, who has been in the form of her life, will compete in the 800m event against some of the world’s best under-18 athletes. The news broke this week not long after Katie had successfully defended her 800m title in the South of England track and field Championships in Ashford on 18 June.

21.Jun.11 Goldie on fire in Stockholm
First throw of the Javelin competition and defending champion Christina Obergföll of Germany speared the turf in Stockholm at 66.22 metres - a world leading mark for 2011. But Goldie Sayers (Coach: Dan Pfaff, Belgrave Harriers) was next up and the Olympic fourth placer hit one of her best throws ever with 64.31m.
