    04.Feb.13 Southern officials' conference instructive and enjoyable

    The South of England Athletics Officials' Association held its annual conference on Sunday and got a great turnout of officials from all disciplines and of different levels to attend workshops, network and listen to guest speaker Stuart Storey.

    The England Athletics Local Coach Development Programme held an endurance hub event at Lee Valley Athletics Centre.  Hosted and chaired by Area Coach Mentor David Chalfen the session was presented by successful local coach Richard Thurston of Woodford Green and Essex Ladies.

    England Athletics is delighted to announce that Matthew Syed will open the 2012 South Area Coaching Conference with his Keynote: The Growth Mindset and the Science of Motivation. Matthew Syed is a British journalist, broadcaster and author of Bounce, a book described as “a must-read for anyone interested in the science of success, and the mindset and culture that support it”.

    On a weekend of river pageants, celebrity concerts and royal carriage processions, a Jubilee celebration of another kind took place on Monday when Havering Mayesbrook AC hosted a QuadKids competition at Raphael Park Romford as part of the London Borough of Havering’s Diamond Jubilee Sports Festival.
