20.Dec.12 Talent Introduction day a great success
On 28th October the North Talent ID day began with small dusting of snow, cold air and an early start. The day was planned to help coaches and athletes understand the different ways to train and encourage them to push the boundaries of their own abilities.

28.Nov.12 Under 11s raise the standard with Gateshead Network
On 24th November, teams from Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland took part in the Tyne & Wear U11 Sportshall Athletics County Championships - a Fun in Athletics programme organised by the Gateshead Athletics Network.

22.Oct.12 Successful Hellhole 10k adds to club's achievements
Derwentside AC who have recently achieved Clubmark and are part of the County Durham Athletics Network, have attracted almost 100 runners at their annual 10k multi terrain race.

08.Oct.12 North East recognise their Volunteers
The North East Regional Awards - sponsored by Northern Powergrid - were held on 1st October 2012 at the Gateshead International Stadium. It was the opportunity to celebrate all that is good in our sport, and a chance to say thank you to all the volunteers who make athletics what it is.

24.Sep.12 Wallsend Harriers’ Community Evening: The Dream Makers
Wallsend Harriers organised a Community Evening at Churchill Playing Fields (Whitley Bay) featuring a “Jessica Ennis Heptathlon” as its centrepiece. The occasion was billed as a “come-along-and-have-a-go” affair for youngsters with little or no previous experience of athletics.
