The SW Regional Volunter Awards took place on Wednesday 8th Dec at the Southgate Hotel in Exeter – Nigel Rowe, Regional Chair presented the awards to recognise the support within the region over the last 12 months and also the success of the awards winners.

Yate AC are hosting a Flying Coach visit from Ed Grazier who will talk about wheelchair racing; specifically indoor rollers and glove building.

England Athletics Volunteer Awards recognise the work of clubs, volunteers, officials and coaches, as well as the areas of partnership and disability athletics. We are pleased that we are now able to announce the names of all the Regional Awards winners for the South West Region.

04.Oct.10 Hayle Runners inclusive training leads to blind athlete competing
Last year, John Allnutt - a blind athlete - approached Hayle Runners for training advice and support. The club were concerned about not having any experience of working with visually impaired or blind athletes, and so took advice. Things have progressed really well and John is now a regular member of the club.

07.Sep.10 Aspiring wheelchair racer to feature on Channel 4
Aspiring wheelchair racer Chloe Ball Hopkins has been selected for ‘Pimp My Chair’ and will be filmed later today (Tuesday) for Channel 4’s That Paralympic Show with the episode being aired later in the current series.

13.May.10 Devon T&F incorporates well attended Parallel Success programme
The Devon Track and Field Champs this year were held on 8th May and for the first time, incorporated the AVIVA Parallel Success programme to allow disabled athletes the chance to compete and aim for IPC Qualifying Standards for the 2011 IPC World Championships in Christchurch, NZ.
