    The primary aim of selections for these teams will be to contribute to the development of potential Olympic athletes via way of exposure to international competition and environment. The secondary purpose of the selections will be to enable the best athletes in England to compete internationally.

    England Athletics fielded a strong Under 20s team at the U20 International part of the Celtic Cup, and took the trophy for the third year in a row.

    Officials on the National list are advised that officials' selections for the 2011 outdoor season have now been published.  This includes most of the UKA and England Athletics competitions.  You can download the selections document from the UKA website.

    Jessica Ennis has won the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year Award in the South Yorkshire Sports Awards.  Her determination to succeed, whilst at the same time staying true to her Northern roots, that led judges to choose Jessica for the award.

    Teams from Essex will again be competing in the Regional Sportshall finals after a very successful relaunch of the format in the county through the Essex McCain Athletics Network which hosted an excellent selection event at Chelmsford Sport & Athletics Centre.
