After the success of the first Commonwealth championships in Cumbria in September 2009, we are pleased to announce the sanctioning of the second Commonwealth Championship Ultra distance/Mountain Running to be held in either 2011 or 2013.

14.Jun.10 Schools Super8 event precursor to National Champs
A Super8 event will be taking place on the 17th July at Gateshead Stadium as a precursor to the National Senior Championships, running from 10am to noon. Super 8 is a team based competition where each athlete participating will complete in one track, one field and one relay.

13.Jun.10 Race Walkers take final steps to Commonwealth selection
England Athletics recognise the importance of 2010 to English athletes as they attempt to qualify for the Commonwealth Games or progress into the international arena. This event will include the Six Nations match as well as incorporating the England Commonwealth Games Trials.

11.Jun.10 Spike presents kids with new Sportshall badges
Local youngsters were the very first to receive their badges for the new Aviva UKA Academy Sportshall Awards from none other than Spike, the UKA mascot. Joining Spike were George Bunner MBE - creator of Sportshall Athletics - and Kevin Hill, North of England Sportshall Development Officer.
