As part of the National School Sports Week, Bristol&WestAC and the Avon Athletics Network joined with the Teaching Staff of City Academy in central Bristol and the local School Sports Partnership to provide two days of athletics coaching to over 300 children from six local schools.

The Year 9 Super8 competition at Castle in Somerset back in early May unearthed a young talent that may never have been on the athletics radar had his school not participated in the Super 8.

With the competition season in full swing, the Avon McCain Athletics Network coach education activities and other big meetings have taken more of a “back seat”. Nevertheless, there has still been lots of activity within the Avon Network, and planning is also well under way for the exciting range of events that will start in September.
