21.Aug.12 Northwood hurdles academy dates for your diary

Now in its 20th year, the Academy caters for sprints and long hurdlers in the U15-U20 age groups, offering hands-on coach development under the guidance of Chief Coach, Ted Grey.  Sessions provide the opportunity for coaches to work in small teams, enabling them to share ideas whilst working with athletes of their selected age group. Dates for the 2012-2013 are now confirmed and the sessions are being delivered as part of the England Athletics Local Coach Development programme (LCDP).  There will be 5 sessions at the Northwood Stadium: Sunday 4 November 2012, Sunday 2 December, Sunday 6 January, Sunday 27 January, Sunday 3 March.

Coaches will be encouraged to input their ideas and extend their experience by planning sessions or parts of sessions.  The emphasis is on the technical development of hurdlers but other aspects of athlete development e.g. strength and conditioning will also figure.  Athletes attending should be of reasonable club standard.

Coaching LCDP logoThrough the Academy, coaches will experience the progressive nature needed by hurdlers from the winter, through competition preparation for the indoor and outdoor seasons.  The sessions are suitable for coaches of any level and travel expenses can be provided for coaches on the local coach development programme (please contact your CCSO for more details).

There is a lot more information in the flyer which you can download here or from the very bottom of this page.
