The excitement of the Olympics inspired 80 youngsters and their families to join in the Kendal Amateur Athletics Club (KAAC) Community Fun Day on Tuesday the 14th August.

On a beautiful sunny afternoon, youngsters were given a chance to try out different running, jumping and throwing activities helped by coaches and athletes from KAAC.

After some refreshments, face painting and fun activities, the youngsters aged 3-13 (and one brave parent) then took part in flat races and a longer ‘marathon’ event emulating their heroes on the track.

Winners for each age group were awarded medals with ribbons in the colours of the Olympic rings. A final team relay brought together young athletes from KAAC with community members in mixed teams representing the major athletic nations.  The Jamaica team, like their namesakes proved impossible to beat!
