17.Aug.12 Erme Valley Harriers embrace the Olympic legacy

Erme Valley Harriers were one of the first athletics clubs to take advantage of the momentum built up by the huge success of the gold rush at the London Olympics.

With the classic British Summer playing its part, torrential rain battered down on the athletics track on the evening of the planned Athletics Community Day. A quick change of plans and all was back on track but with the Mini Olympics being moved into the sports hall.

Erme Valley Community DayMany new parents and young athletes aspiring to be the next Jess Ennis or Mo Farah signed up to take part in this fun filled evening.  After being split into teams the grown up’s led the way with a very competitive 1 lap dash of the sports hall followed by their fellow team members.

They then all moved around various stations; standing long jump, shot, javelin and finally to finish the relay with plenty of coaching tips given all night by the Erme Valley coaches.

Prizes of Wenlock and Mandeville model 2012 gifts were given out to the winners and best achievers of the Mini Olympics.  A final posing competition of who could do the best Mo-bot rounded off a fantastic evening.
