16.Aug.12 Youth Development and Endurance Workshops kick off LCDP Programme

Following the announcement on July 30th that the winter LCDP workshop programme had been finalised, the first opportunities for coaches to continue their development having been inspired by the events in London are being held at Gateshead College Academy for Sport on Sunday 9th September.

There will be a workshop delivered by Area Coach Mentor for Endurance Stan Taylor, covering planning, periodisation and a history of great training systems. There will be a brief presentation followed by facilitated discussion looking at current examples of periodisation for endurance athletes, incorporating examples from some of the most successful training systems from decades gone by.

Simultaneously there will be an opportunity for youth development coaches to take part in facilitated group work to look at the planning of training sessions through Athletics 365.  Delivered by local CCSOs John Stacey and Nick Ridgeon, this is a chance for coaches working with 8-14 year olds to share best practice and provides an informal learning environment where coaches can design a training programme for their training groups for the next 8 weeks.

Workshops will start promptly at 10.00am, and are likely to run for 2-3 hours.

If you want to attend either of the workshops, please send an email to John (jstacey@englandathletics.org) or Nick (nridgeon@englandathletics.org) including the following information:
