Ellie Brown, a Run England leader in the boroughs of Greenwich and Lewisham, last week received an award presented by the Mayor of Greenwich for the inspiration she gives to the members of the groups that she works with within the community.

The award was part of the ‘Who has inspired you?’ campaign which has a theme linked to the London 2012 motto ‘Inspire a generation’ and was launched to celebrate those people who have demonstrated great achievement in sport, culture or contribution to their community.
Ellie was nominated by 3 different people; a member of one of her Buggy Runners’ groups, a member of her Greenwich Runners’ group and also a member of one of her Pilates’ group.

Ellie was commended for the support she offers women through her running groups and her work with pre and post natal women together with her voluntary work, coaching athletics within a local primary school. One of nominees stated that Ellie ‘is a true Olympic Ambassador in the borough, making sport and getting active all about Fun, Fitness and Friendship, and one of the most positive and encouraging individuals I have ever met.’
Ellie received her award of Olympic tickets at a special reception held at the Town Hall along with other nominees.

As well as coaching groups in the London Borough of Greenwich, Ellie also coaches a female group for Kent AC, based at the Ladywell track in Lewisham.
