10.Aug.12 Club Leaders' Learning Bus comes to Age Group Championships

"Club Admin Made Easy"

The double decker Club Leaders' Learning Bus will be rolling into the England Athletics Age Group Championships at Bedford Stadium on Sunday 19th August 2012.  People who help to run sports clubs are welcome on board to talk through ways in which they can make the running of their club easier and more effective.

The bus team would also like to make people aware of the other free services available thanks to Sport England and Lottery funding as part of the Olympic Legacy Programme, Places People Play. The bus will be around from 12pm until 7pm and it's all free!  Club Leaders is being delivered by PwC, whose local staff will on hand at the bus to share their business expertise with the community sports sector.

Sport England Chief Executive, Jennie Price, said: “We asked the people who run clubs what they needed most, and their advice has guided every aspect of the Club Leaders offer: simple, flexible training and advice, delivered locally, and completely free. They are the unsung heroes of grassroots sport, and I am delighted we are able to offer them support as part of the legacy of London 2012.”

Olympic silver medalist, Roger Black MBE, said: “Community sports clubs are the backbone of grassroots sport and are what help nurture our sports stars of tomorrow.  I know first-hand how important the people who volunteer to help run these community clubs are, having seen it not only in my own athletics career but every Sunday when I take my children to play at our local sports club.  By supporting those who keep our clubs going and by providing them with the skills to do that job more effectively, we will build a strong future for sport in this country beyond this year’s Games.”

The programme is part of Places People Play, the £135 million National Lottery-funded legacy programme that is bringing the inspiration and magic of a home Olympic and Paralympic Games into communities all over the country.  To find out more about the programme and access the learning resources, visit www.sportenglandclubleaders.com or contact the Club Leaders team at club.leaders@uk.pwc.com.
