12.Jul.12 The pride of Durham's Playground to Podium

Reece Palmer, Durham Playground to Podium athlete, was the pride of the P2P athletes at the DSE Nationwide Junior Athletics Championships after competing in the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m relay and claiming two medals.

Reece, coached by England Athletics regional award winner Paul Smith, won bronze in the 100m in a race described by the track announcer as ‘too close to call’. Although disappointed, Reece picked himself up next day and ran the 200m. Again, the top three were neck and neck, but this time a delighted Reece claimed the silver medal, improving on his PB by 3 seconds. Reece also ran in the 4 x 100m relay where the North East team came fourth.
