113 runners took part in the 1 mile and 2 mile Fun Runs at Marazion as part of its celebrations for the visit of the Olympic Torch to its town. 

The Fun Runs were organised by the Duchy Athletics Network who worked closely with the local school, the Godolphin Arms and St Aubyn Estate.

There were 30 volunteers from Hayle Runners, as well as some from Truro Running Club, CAC and St Austell Running Club who did a great job of setting up the courses, registering runners and marshalling the runs. These volunteers also helped provided marshalling coverage for the ‘Olympic Torch Relay’ organisers, to control spectators when the torch was brought onto the beach in spectacular fashion.

The Fun Runs were thoroughly enjoyed by all the runners who took part, so much so that Duchy Athletics Network been asked if they can organise some more Fun Runs on the beach during May next year.  Watch this space!
