14.May.12 A great day for the first of the NOTAN QuadKids

On the 28th April NOTAN held its first QuadKids Athletics event at Churchill playing fields.

A total of 37 athletes signed up to take part in a great competition.

"The day started off well with the sun on our side." commented Network Coordinator Victoria Spence.

This year the age groups were split into under 9’s (year 3), under 10’s (year 4), under 11’s (year 5) and under 12’s (year 6).  For the under 9 boys Leon Melaco secured third place with 137 points, Patrick Kendall in second with 160 points and in first place Sammy Watson with a great score of 172 points.  For the under 9 girls in third place was Caitlin Cielland with 36 points, second Alicia Hogan with 70 points and achieving first place with a great score of 173 was Cissie Robson reaching the Bronze level on the UKA Academy awards.

For the under 10 boys there were some great scores, in third place came Matthew Wells with 148 points, in second Callum Penn with 167 points and out in the lead with 212 points came Joshua Leslie with 212 points reaching silver in the UKA Academy awards.  For the under 10 girls Ella Gallon came third with 72 points, Lexi Pettitt in second with 81 points and a close first with 86 points was Hannah Turney.

The under 11 boys showed a tough competition.  In third place came Ethan Renney with 195 points, narrowly missing on the Bronze UKA Academy award. In second with 205 points was Daniel Buffher achieving the Bronze level. However, in first place with a great score of 238 points achieving the Gold UKA Academy award was Felix Robson.  For the under 11 girls there was only one entry to achieve first place; Ellen Carter with a great score of 115 points.

In the final age group - the under 12 boys - Amonik Melaco achieved bronze with 84 points, followed by Freddie Reed in second place with 119 points and gaining first place with a great score of 167 points was Adam Swalwell.  It was close for the under 12 girls with Georgia Penn with 83 points, in second Jessica Leslie with 115 points, and just with a 3 point lead with 118 points came Erynn Harris in first place.

Over all it was a great day with food and drinks available and finishing with a raffle and certificates for everyone.
